Blood streaked the edge of an overturned television in the tiny, sparsely furnished living room where 13-month-old Shaun Brown had been playing just hours before.

The Chicago toddler was playing in the upstairs apartment in the 11300 block of South Edbrooke Avenue around 1 p.m. when he "tagged" the TV, which rested atop a narrow wooden stand meant to hold fish tanks, said Michael Jennings, the toddler's cousin.

I was gonna be all "People! Secure your televisions!" but then I realized that I recently moved my television to sit atop my mantel, and it is unsecured. I don't have small children living in my home, but I do have some visit. I know what home improvement project I'm doing today.

Four kids dead. A shame. It's about time that some responsible politician introduces a TV Control bill into congress.

Those parents are going to be torturing themselves over this for the rest of their lives... "Why didn't I secure that f-ing TV!"

I kind of feel parents should be required to undergo a home safety inspection before or shortly after they bring home the baby just to make sure it's properly child proof. But then again I see where that can open a can of worms....but then I think of the potential lives that can be saved... *sigh*
